Last week, I tried out for a talent position at my college television – PSTV. I applied for two positions – with the hope of getting one of the positions. I was behind the scenes last semester at PSTV – definitely a fun experience. What I have learned over the years is that regardless of what you want to do with journalism you have to be a jack of all trades. Ordinarily, this may have been a negative thing but in this field you have to be.

Tomorrow is exciting – I get to break the air waves to thousands of people who watch. I’m pretty pumped. I’m doing News Briefs – which is a summary of recent news and weather. If you’re in the Plattsburgh area be sure to tune in to PSTV!

PSTV Live Night

Last night was PSTV’s “Live Night.” At PSTV we have a bunch of shows that go on the air every week, but they are taped and only go live once a semester. The shows range from game shows, news, high school/college sports and a late night talk show.  I felt this was a valuable experience for what it will be like when I get out in the job market. The advantage of having a taped show is that if you make a mistake you can do it over – live you can’t. However, I do think that live is better and a lot more fun since there is a lot more at stake. You make a mistake, you can’t redo it. When the clock ticks to the show start time you better be ready or else you’re going to look really bad on television. I love the hustle and bustle before the show to make sure everything is ready and set. I love the activity and the pressure to make sure everything is right. I thought everyone did a wonderful job and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in such a fun and exciting night! Go PSTV!
