Fight For Preemies!

Did you know that “One in eight babies born in our country is premature. The rate of premature birth in America is higher than that of most other developed nations?”1 Today I would like to bring awareness and dedicate this post to preemies and their friends and families. November 17th is bloggers unite to try to bring awareness on this cause. However, we shouldn’t limit it to today – we should fight everyday. We can make a difference and I hope you share this information with people.

Many premature babies will face lifelong challenges. Babies who survive a preterm birth risk serious lifelong health problems including cerebral palsy, blindness, hearing loss, learning disabilities, and other chronic conditions.2 Some babies don’t survive the first month. About one million deaths in the first month of life (28 percent of total newborn deaths) are attributed to preterm birth.3

Here is a video clip from the March of Dimes.

You can learn more about Premature babies at the March of Dimes.

How you can help?

Advocacy: Contact your local government representatives and tell them your story about a premature baby. Also help the March of Dimes.

Bring Awarness: Contact your local paper, news agency and blogs to publish information about premature babies. If you need help with writing or contacting news agencies, feel free to contact me.

Volunteer: You can make a difference by spending a little bit of your time helping others. Check out local March of Dime chapters.

Donate: You can donate to this cause by purchasing wristbands, magnets, crystal bracelets or honoring a baby.

You can make a difference!

If you have a personal story and would like to share it on the blog, feel free to post a comment. Please, please, please share either this post with your family and friends or please pass on the March of Dimes website to help fight for these babies. “We need to fight ― because babies shouldn’t have to.”

Photography/Five Takes

I am getting ready to launch my personal photograpy/video/video editing website within the next couple of weeks. I am still working out the kinks with the design. There is a temporary design in place now, but will be changed once I finish the finishing touches. You can check out the website by clicking here.

I am looking to do some portrait photography and I am looking for some volunteers that are in the Plattsburgh area. This is based on a volunteer basis and there will not be any compensation for any modeling. My goal is to use these photographs in my portfolio section. You are more than welcome to put any modeling in your resume and I have no objections to that. You will also get a complete copy of all of my work which you can use freely (as long as you don’t sell them :) ).

If you’re like me, a poor college student, then you may want to check out these websites that could earn you some extra cash.

1. Guru – Guru is a freelance website which means if you have a special talent, lets say you can code websites or you can make some nifty graphics. Why not get paid for your special talents? Guru hooks you up with companies looking for business. They have both free and paid accounts. It’s a good way to boost your resume!

Other freelance websites:

2. Associated Content – Associated Content is a website which will pay you for your writing, videos and photography. Also, the more views your profile and articles get, the more money you earn.  I’m sure you knew this was coming, my associated content plug! Check it out by clicking here! Not sure what to write about, photograph or video about? No worries, they have an assignment desk which you can use for your posts!

Other pay for content websites:

3. Zazzle – Do you have a band, are you an artist, do you want to make your own skateboard and or shoes? Well Zazzle is your creative engine. All you need to do is setup an account, use their online design software and you are on your way to creating awesome custom products. You can have your own market place where others can purchase what you design. You do have a choice of what you want others to be able to purchase and how much of a cut you get. Essentially you create the stuff and you get a percentage of the total price. For example the item to purchase off Zazzle may be $20 but you will get only 15-20% of that price for each purchase. The more people that you sell your work to, the more money you get!

Other Custom Product design sites:

4. Ebay – Your very own auction where you can sell your stuff online.

Other Sell Your Stuff sites:

5. Part time Jobs – I know this may sound easier said then done, but hitting up all of the job sites and seeing if their is an opening near you. Websites like College Helpers, Hot Jobs, Snag a Job, Career Builder Monster.com may help. Also check with your college to see if there are any job openings within the college and or local area.

Do you know any other ways to help earn some money? Post a comment below!

Own the Sky

Stop Motion. There is something about this film technique that I really enjoy. It kinda reminds me of older films, how the picture would bounce up and down on the screen. The older films where you see the crackle and scattered looking particles on it. There is something really cool about it… Here is one of my favorites, the music is pretty cool too!

The video called, Own the Sky was created by Brian Sweeney.

Let me know what your thoughts…

Thank you for all the interest in Storm Chaos Weather. The domain is still for sale and if you are interested in purchasing the domain name from me please contact me.  You will have to provide your own hosting once you purchase the domain from me. I can help you set that up with my current hosting service which is very good company. You can contact me using the contact form by clicking here.

I have decided on my new multimedia website name of Five Takes. After careful consideration, I felt that Anti-Blur was too awkward to say and a name that couldn’t be easily remembered. Out of Focus was a clever name and a name I would have loved to use but it was already taken by somebody else. Five Takes is going to be my place to offer photography, video, and editing services. All of these services will be free until I can boost my portfolio. I am looking to boost my portfolio so if you know someone or if you would like some video editing, photography, or simply to affiliate with me please contact me! Here is a list of all of my services. ALL my work is FREE of charge!
