Joe Gullo — I’m twenty-one years old. I’m currently a student at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. I plan on-graduating in 2011 with a bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Journalism was not my childhood dream. As a child, I never imagined that I would be studying communications and broadcast journalism. I had a completely different path in mind. Since I was five or may be four, I wanted to become a weather man. I remember being mesmerized by The Weather Channel. I remember going into my room and pretending to forecast the weather. Indirectly I guess I always wanted to be on television. At the time that’s all I knew. I had no idea how expansive the meteorology field was when I was five. Nevertheless, life is funny in the direction that it puts you. You just take life one day at a time.
I live life to the fullest. Life is too short to take seriously. Traveling across the world is one of my many dreams.
So Joe, why the website? I formed this website for a variety of reasons. I hope by writing more I can become a better writer. As a journalist regardless of whether you are working for print or for broadcasting you need to be able to write. I believe in the saying, “practice makes perfect” so by writing more I am hoping that I can become a better writer. This website is multifunctional in the sense that yes this is my personal website but I also would like to keep it professional. I want to show this website to future employers to demonstrate some of the skills that I have. The internet is changing the media (whether we like it or not) and as a journalist you have to be prepared and be knowledgeable of not only broadcasting on television but also the internet. Lastly, this website is where I can express myself and offer ideas. I hope that this website can inspire and motivate.
