Posted by | Politics | No Comments

With the sequester now in place, some states will feel the effects of it harder than others.

The states colored in red – Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii received the most of the federal spending as a percentage of state GDP.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the states highlighted in red will feel the brunt of the sequester.

Pausing Through Life – An Inaugural Moment

Posted by | Politics | No Comments

Today was Barack Obama’s public Inauguration ceremony.

Amidst the fanfare one moment really struck out to me. No matter your opinion of the president I think we can all take something away from this moment.

As Obama was going up the steps into the Capitol Building. He paused, stopped and said:

“I want to take a look one more time. I’m not going to get a chance to see this again.”

He then looked out into the crowd for about 20 seconds before continuing into the Capitol.

I’m sure that moment will stick with him forever.

As a society we move so quick through our day. Beep before the person in front of us gets a chance to put their foot on the gas. Race through life without stopping even for 30 seconds to take it all in.

I was reminded of that today. I was reminded to take that extra moment to pause and take in that moment because you may not get a chance to see it again.
